-Allez is an outdoor, rotating mural art gallery based in Missoula, MT. Therefore, while we welcome all levels of artists, when applying to create original paintings, we do require applicants to be somewhat knowledgable in creating large-scale artworks, and being able to adhere to a set deadline. Artists must also be capable of transporting materials to and from Missoula.
-Artists are welcome to propose one of the following for all of our exhibits:
- To create original artwork under the Allez material and preparation guidelines.
- To create original artwork using their own proposed materials and method.
- To supply Allez with high-res image files of existing artwork to be used for print, or to create smaller work that can be scanned for a high-res file.
-All accepted artists will be paid for their work to Allez. Please visit our website HERE for all information regarding pay and ownership of accepted artwork, as well as requirements from artists during the creation process.
-You will need to create a free submittable account in order to submit these forms. Here is a quick guide on how to get started: https://submittable.help/en/articles/904856-how-do-i-submit
-Allez is committed to hosting two open art calls per year for exhibits premiering in March and October. You may submit for multiple projects, and/or have the option of shifting your proposal to a later exhibit.

Project Overview:
Allez! is looking for 7-14 artists (or art teams!) to create smaller mural works which exemplify the theme: "Identity". The focus of our first exhibit of the year is to feature as many artists as possible to foster relationships and introduce new talent. This show will have a single word “theme” to give the artists a jumping off point, but still keep the show cohesive. Artists are invited to create on smaller quarter or half panels (see our Layout options below), so that we can feature as many as 14 artists on the wall, and is a great option for artists just starting out in the mural arts. You can also check out our website on the “Painting process & wall layout” page where you can view and click to download our layout options, and use these to design your proposed artwork. You can follow the measurements provided to make your own layout, or insert your images into the forms provided. The exhibit will run the second Friday of March through the end of June.

Artwork Guidelines:
- Artwork proposals will be considered on the artist's overall excellence and creativity in portraying the exhibit theme: "Identity". Previous experience and knowledge of murals will also be considered.
- While Allez is committed to fostering all creative expression, we are also a venue on display to the everyday public. Therefore, we are required to restrain more extreme themes, and ask that the imagery NOT contain: perverse language, lewd sexual acts or nudity, graphic violence, or any symbolism/imagery that may be hurtful to a group or minority.
- We also ask that the imagery does not contain any large text that could be misconstrued as advertising signage (a specific product or business name e.g.).
- Artists can submit three different types of artwork:
- High resolution files of previously finished artwork to be used to print large scale. Artwork cannot be previously purchased and/or painted for any other public or private commission, and is solely owned by the artist. See our website's Submission page for info on how to create your file. You can also propose to create a new, smaller artwork for printing.
- An acrylic mural using Allez's materials and preparation methods. Proposal images may be of finished artwork, sketches, color swatches, or past artwork of similar theme. Final mural can be painted either directly on MDO panel or on polytab mural cloth (this option for artists living outside of Missoula area only).
- A mural of different painting method and/or incorporating sculptural form. Proposal images may be of finished artwork, sketches, color swatches, or past artwork of similar theme. Artist must be able to prove that their method will be durable to the outdoor elements. Payment adjustments for extra and/or pricey materials will be considered.

- Artists creating murals will receive 30% of payment before starting project to cover materials.
- Original murals are commissioned pieces and, once delivered to Allez, become the property of Allez. Allez will then reserve the right to re-sell artwork to raise funds for the program.
- As part of choosing the best layout from multiple submissions, Allez may accept a design, but ask that the artist downsize their initial proposal to allow other artists to participate, and if the committee feels a smaller layout might benefit the finished piece.
